#HappyBirthdayLegend: AR Rehman

Indian composer, musician, singer, and music producer Allarakha Rehman also known to us as AR Rehman will be celebrating his 54th birthday today. Winner of the Padma Bhushan, the nation's third-highest civilian award, six National Film Awards, two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe Award, fifteen Filmfare Awards and seventeen Filmfare Awards South, Mr Rehman needs no introduction.

Apart from Bollywood songs, he has also composed songs for Hollywood movies such as 127 Hours and Lord Of War. Twitter poured out its support and appreciation for the music director:

1. Chaiya Chaiya - Dil Se:


Dil se was released in 1998 and was directed by the ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam. The film was set in the backdrop of the insurgency in the North East and the ULFA uprising. The super hit "Chaiya-Chaiya" gained so much popularity that certain reports have even suggested that the superstar Madona had praised his efforts.

 

 

2. Ye Jo Des Hai Tera - Swades:


One of the most critically aclaimed score of the maestro. "Ye Jo Des hai Tera" and the theme music became worldwide sensation. Philharmonics across the world have performed the song in concerts and it has gained popularity worldwide.

 

 

 

3. Jai Ho - Slumdog Millionaire :

The amazing track from the movie Slumdog Millionaire is composed by AR Rahman, and penned by Gulzar and Tanvi Shah. The song has the marvellous voice of Rahman, Sukhwinder Singh, Tanvi Shah, Mahalakshmi Iyer, and Vijay Prakash. The song bagged an Academy Award for Best Original Song and a Grammy Award for Best Song Written for a Motion Picture.

 

 

4. Lagaan - Chale Chalo:


The unforgettable score from the movie Lagaan with a patriotic undertone is still played on all the national events. Nearly all the tracks have the movie have received immense recognition post release.

 

5. Tere Bina - Guru:


The ultra melodious track featuring Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is another beautiful composition by Rahman. The song is performed by Rahman, Murtuza Khan, Quadir Khan and Chinmay and is dedicated to the memory of Pakistani qawwali singer Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
