As Revealed by Tennis Australia CEO, Craig Tiley, This time the Australia Tennis Opens 2021 will not be conducted as scheduled earlier. Due to the impact of Covid-19 worldwide, for the first time in the history, Tennis Open in Australia will not be conducted mid-January. Until now, the tournament was played between mid-January to the start of February at Melbourne Park.

As per the news report published by News Corp, Craig Tiley has announced confirming that Australian Open 2021 has been postponed till February 8^th of upcoming year. The players participating for the tournament have already been informed about the change in scheduled timings.

The delay is kept for implementing the revised parameters of safety before the actual tournament starts. The players would be isolated for a quarantine period and Covid-19 negative test results would be mandatory before taking part in tournament. Something similar to what we have seen for other sports tournaments such as cricket internationals.

The Associans of Tennis Professionals Cup (ATP Cup) has already been discarded for the upcoming year of 2021, mainly due to change of schedule for Australia Open 2021.

“Players need to be more flexible in understanding the current situation and they need to find a way to play for upcoming tournaments, as many as they could,” Said the 20 times Grand Slam Champion, Rafael Nadal.

Veteran Players who likely to participate for the tournament are defending champions Rafael Nadal and Novac Djokovic, and Roger Federer too is likely to participate amid his long-time injury.

“Players will have to be in quarantine for two weeks from January 15, but the Victorian government has reportedly agreed to special conditions for players. Also Players need to follow strict conditions during the course of quarantine period and post which the strictness will be revoked allowing players a free to stay environment,” said Craig Tiley, in his email statement.

“After finishing the quarantine period, players will have to go through warm-up matches before competing in the Australia Open 2021,” he added in his statement.
