BJP Youth Leader Pamela Goswami Arrested For Carrying Cocaine

The Secretary General of State BJP Yuva Morcha Pamela Goswami was arrested Friday in the South of Kolkata for allegedly carrying 90 grams of cocaine in her car.

The New Alipore police said that they would be produced before a court on Saturday.

The other two have been identified as Prabir Kumar Dey (38), a resident of Garia, and Somnath Chaterjee (26) from Aushgram in East Burdwan.

The Deputy Commissioner of South Kolkata said addressing the matter “Today, acting on a tip-off, the New Alipore police station carried out an operation and spotted one Honda BR-V car with registration no WB-06P-0233 in front of Parameswari Bhawan at NR Avenue, New Alipore. After searching, approximately 90 grams of narcotic material (suspected cocaine) worth approximately Rs 10 lakh was found,”

While the BJP said the law would be enforced, the TMC was not shocked by the traffic of drugs. In a case of child trafficking, the TMC said earlier that the "BJP leader was arrested".

Not only the BJP and TMC, the news has already created nuisance and divided the country’s opinions. People criticized the BJP’s action and demanded arrest #PamelaGoswami.

Some of the BJP leaders have been vocal about the mishappening. Stating unfamiliarity with Pamela’s actions, BJP Spokesperson Shamik Bhattacharya said “I still don’t know anything clearly about this. However, it is also a matter of concern whether the drug was in their bag or was planted. After all, the model code of conduct has not been imposed yet, and the state police is still under the state government.”

However, TMC does not look terrified with a BJP member alleged for doing drugs. TMC MP Sugata Roy said “Earlier, a BJP woman leader was found to be involved in a child trafficking case in Jalpaiguri. Now another youth leader has been arrested with drugs.”

Pamela has been participating in BJP rallies and working closely with other BJP leaders for the upcoming state elections in Bengal.

Who is Pamela Goswami?

Pamela is the state secretary of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and is a leader of the BJP wing in West Bengal. Before she joined politics, she was into modelling and then became a Bengali film actress. Pamela was also an air hostess before she came into politics.

Being a regular youth participant in the BJP rallies and functions, Pamela is seen with BJP Yuva Morcha National President Tejashwi Surya and leader Mukul Roy.

Active social media buff and BJP yuva Pamela Goswami keeps her followers updated with her posts. She was against Rihanna, Mia Khalifa and others supporting the farmer protests. She even said Mia is a paid ISI agent and assigned to spoil India’s reputation.
