#SoniaGandhiBirthday : No celebrations for the second time in a row

In the light of the ongoing pandemic and farmer's protest, the Congress Supremo Sonia Gandhi decided to skip her birthday celebrations scheduled for the 9th of December. However, the twitterati which harbours some of the eminent personalities of the country, including the leaders of the opposition took to the platform to express their wishes for the ailing leader:

The Congress leader, who will turn 74 this year, is currently in Goa after an advise by her doctors to shift out of the national capital in view of heavy pollution and poor air quality that had aggravated her chest infection. This would be the second consecutive year when she would be not celebrating her birthday. Last year, she cancelled the celebrations in the wake of rise in rape incidents in the country.

Contrary to what she may believe, there definately exists a reason for her to celebrate this year. A detailed analysis on checkbrand.online reveals that her popularity rating has increased by 2.1 % in spite of her absence from the political sphere due to poor health.

The official twitter handle of the Congress Party posted a video on her birthday depicting her journey from a girl from Orbsassanoto to a stalwart of Indian Politics graduating from the 'University of Life', as a part of their social media management and creation of a brand value. It quickly gained an impression of over 2,500 in a span of just 24 minutes. Media organizations also took to twitter to express gratitude for the Congress leader:

However, a certain amount of irony was also witnessed relating her birthday to the International Anti-Corruption Day. Congress Party which has been accused of excessive corruption in the past still lives under the shadow of it. Recent moves by the current government including those of the farm bills have not been successful in eroding the previously tarnished image of the party.

Still, a considerable amount of supporters chose to express their wishes and appreciation for the leader terming her as the "Mother of Sacrifice" who did not only give up her personal sphere for politics but also refused to be the Prime Minister over allegations of her being a "foreign national". The Accidental Prime Minister further tainted her image as an autocratic leader

Sonia Gandhi may have been a controversial leader but at the same time she stood as an inspiration for many portraying exceptional leadership qualities when the country needed it the most. One can hope and wish for her speedy recovery.
