Delhi Police: Red Fort Escapade Accused Deep Sidhu Is Behind Bars
Delhi Police has arrested the actor turned activist Deep Sidhu, the man accused in the 26th January escapade.
On 26th January, the participating miscreants in the farmer protests hoisted the Nishan Sahib flag on the red fort which turned out to hurt national sentiments. The Nishan Sahib flag and the farm flag, while some claimed the Khalistani flag was not expected to be seen at the fort praising it to be the epitome of national dignity.
According to the farm unions including the Swaraj India leader Yogendra Yadav, and other farm unions, Deep Sidhu was already eliminated from the farmer protests earlier when he tried to defame the protests. Some of the farm leaders pronounced him to be the traitor but Sidhu continued to take his actions forward. Sidhu was also heard quoting Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, the demander of Khalistan i.e a separate Sikh nation.
Sidhu was accused of instigating riots and insinuating the farmer peaceful protests which turned into a fight between the police and the farmers leading to around 400 injured police personnel.
The police allegedly tried to control the farmers climbing the red fort wall and at the end had to use tear gas to control the chaos.
Sidhu, who was the first celebrity to speak up for the farmer protests was later called a conspirator by the farm leaders to which he responded “If I'm being labelled a gaddar (traitor), then all farmer leaders are gaddars."
Sidhu has held a protest at the Shambhu border between Punjab and Haryana where he was seen raising Khalistani elements in the protests, the other protest participants has reported earlier. Later he entered the Singhu border, where even after been discarded by the farm leaders, he decided to mistreat the police personnel taking the protest further. He also claimed that the farmers are themselves betraying their own chariot of peace and blaming him for the same.
The Punjabi actor who played a gangster in a Punjabi film ‘Jora Das Numberia’ came into limelight soon after he joined the farmer protests along with thousands of Punjab and Haryana farmers.
Since October, thousands of farmers from Punjab and Haryana have been protesting against the newly passed farm bills which they claim will invite the corporates leading to farmer exploitation. The farmers demand a defined law for MSP, limit corporate inclusion, a defined APMC structure thereby a law that saves the agricultural aspects of Indian farmers.
After the continued protests, Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday addressed the protests in the parliament saying “MSP will remain” and requested the farmers to end the protests.
BKU Chief Rakesh Tikait straight forward denied PM’s requests and confirmed the protest continuation until the farm demands are met i.e the farm laws 2020 are revoked.
Around 44 cases have been filed related the 26th January red fort episode, around 14 is under investigation with the Crime Branch.
