Dadra and Nagar Haveli Independent MP Mohan Delkar Found Dead In Mumbai Hotel

Six term MP from Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Mohan Delkar was found dead in South Mumbai’s Marine Drive facing hotel. According to the police, Mohan died by suicide and a suicide note was also found near the body.

Several channels shared the news with heartfelt condolences.

The independent MP from Dadra and Nagar Haveli was a father of two sons. His body was found at the Hotel Sea Green Marine Drive along with a suicide note written in Gujarati.

The police are speculating the death reason to be suicide but is searching for every other possible reason. For now, the body is sent for post-mortem.

One of the official confirmed soon be known after the autopsy reports that the death reason will. The official said “Dead body of Mohan Sanjibhai Delkar, Hon'ble MP, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, has been found in a hotel under the limits of Marine Drive police station. The police are at the spot. A suicide note has been found. An investigation is being done. The exact cause of death will be known after the post-mortem is conducted."

Another official confirmed Mohan’s check-in at the hotel on Sunday night. He stated “His driver, who had checked into an adjacent room, first knocked on Delkar’s hotel room on the fifth floor around 11:30 am on Monday. Delkar did not open it. After repeatedly knocking on the door, the driver panicked and informed a hotel employee who brought along the master key. They tried knocking it but failed because the door was double locked from inside. Soon Delkar’s bodyguard and the hotel employee along with the Driver went to the Driver’s room and looed through Delkar’s room and found that the window was left ajar. The driver then jumped from his balcony to Delkar’s balcony and got inside the room where he found Delkar hanging from the fan. This happened around 2 pm.”

The police have found a suicide note of around six to seven pages in which around 40 names are mentioned and the officials are clarifying any possible missing from the letter.

Delkar started his career being an advocate for the tribal rights and became the leader of the trade union leader in Silvassa. In 1989, he was elected to the 9th Lok Sabha from Dadra and Nagar Haveli as a Congress nominee. Later he left Congress and contested the 17th Lok Sabha election as Independent candidate and victoriously won majority seats. Delkar won the 1989, 1991 and 1996 elections as a Congress candidate and the 1998 election as a BJP candidate.
