The Only Thread Joining Democrats and Republicans Is Trump’s Second Impeachment

The US House on 13th January 2020 impeached President Donald Trump for the second time invoicing him for “incitement of insurrection”. The impeachment comes after a week when the US Capitol was stormed by Trump supporters on the same day when the House formalized President elect Joe Biden’s victory.

This is the second time when Trump is impeached which itself happened for the first time in American history. Trump was impeached for the first time in 2019 with charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

Trump is facing impeachment as he addressed a group of supporters near the National Mall and convinced him to march towards the US Capitol inciting the house's destruction. Around five people died in the incident which also included a police officer.

While Trump was the hyperactive twitterati himself before twitter banned him recently, twitter reacted to his impeachment with #trumpimpeachment and #trump2impeachment.

Not only the house members, but US population stands with #trumpimpeachment and calls him the ‘President responsible for insurrection.”

To Counter Trump’s acts, democrats have moved forward and demanded Trump’s impeachment which is being proceeded with extraordinary efforts. A group of senators and republicans have demanded Trump’s punishment and have moved to impeach Trump after the US Capitol incident.

Representatives David Cicilline, Ted Lieu, Jamie Raskin and Jerrold Nadler are the major supporters of the impeachment, they will be questioning Trump for inciting violence against the United States government.

The four representatives from Rhode Island, California, Maryland and New York drafted an article which marked Trump’s speech of incitement where he said “If you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.”

Nancy Pelosi, the US House Speaker signed the impeachment article and further carried on the debate over the article of impeachment. We know that the President of the United States incited this insurrection, this armed rebellion against our common country. He must go, he is a clear & present danger to the nation that we all love," she said.

While Trump’s impeachment is supported by various Democrats, the time-frame is still questionable. The Democrats have said that the impeachment must go on even after there’s little time left for Trump holding position in the office, the law does not abide by the Democrat’s ideology on this statement.

President Donald Trump's impeachment trial in the U.S. Senate will not begin until next week, outgoing Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said on Wednesday, setting the stage for a partisan brawl in President-elect Joe Biden's first days in office, the Associated Press reported.

McConnell, who loses his position as majority leader when Biden is sworn in on Jan. 20, issued his statement shortly after the House of Representatives voted 232-197 to make Trump the first U.S. president ever to be impeached twice, a week after a violent mob of his supporters stormed the Capitol.

"Even if the Senate process were to begin this week and move promptly, no final verdict would be reached until after President Trump had left office. This is not a decision I am making; it is a fact," McConnell said in a statement.

The US House has voted 232-197 with 10 Republicans joining the Democrats to join the impeachment. According to the law, 17 Republicans need to join for further trial.

The trial will begin after January 19th which will be just a day before Trump leaves his Presidential position.

Impeachment is one of the weightiest tools the Constitution gives Congress to hold government officials, including the president, accountable for misconduct and abuse of power. Trump’s impeachment is not only a shredder for his position but also an ugly remembrance to the US lawfulness.
