Tamil Nadu CM: No Examination For Class 9 to 12

Tamil Nadu CM Edappadi Palaniswami announced no examinations for standard 9,10 and 11.

The CM on Thursday said that the students studying in class 9,10 and 11 will be passed without appearing for the examinations.

He said “All students in classes 9, 10 and 11 in the academic year 2020-21 are declared to have passed the full year exams and no general exams, considering the request of the parents and the opinion of the academics. The score assessment protocols for students will be published in detail by the government.”

Adding to the above statement, the CM said “The state has been under curfew since 25.3.2020 as administered by the National Disaster Management Act. This is done to hinder further spread of the pandemic in Tamil Nadu.”

Citing reasons for the cancellation of the exams, he said that the students were taught and educated only with online classes throughout the pandemic months and now it is difficult for them to catch up with the syllabus.

In Tamil Nadu, the schools were reopened in January 2021 with almost a gap of ten months. The Tamil Nadu government previously decided to have a conversation regarding the opening of the schools.

The government announced examinations for class 10 and 12th but has now cancelled it.

The TN government has announced conducting the class 12th examinations this year between May 3 and May 21.

The EPS government cancelled the examinations last year also due to pandemic and promoted students from class 1 to 9 without examinations.
