'NOTICEABLY EXHAUSTED,' RUPANI FAINTS DURING THE VADODARA ELECTIONS RALLY
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani lost his consciousness on stage while holding his third rally on a busy Sunday, ahead of the upcoming Nizampura Civic Polls in the Vadodara district.
Moments before his collapsing, exhausted Rupani paused while giving statement, however his security officer hurried to grab him on time. The Chief Minister of Gujarat was provided with first aid on stage and was later seen going down the stage stairs on his own, as per the reports from news agency PTI.
In a video posted by the chief minister's Twitter account for a live broadcast of the protest, near the end of the address, Rupani was seen losing consciousness.
The video caption read, “Public meeting planned for the upcoming local body elections at Vadodara.”
“The chief minister while addressing the public conference, collapsed. As he was about to fall, his security guards grabbed hold of him. He was given first aid and is being taken to the airport from where he will go to a hospital in Ahmedabad,” BJP leader Bharat Danger told a media outlet.
"Mr Rupani's health was not proper for the last two days, but instead of cancelling his public meetings held in Jamnagar on Saturday and in Vadodara on Sunday, he decided to go forward," said Mr. Danger, adding that Mr. Rupani is all better now.
On February 21, elections will be held for six municipal corporations, including Vadodara, while those for municipalities, districts and taluka panchayats will take place on February 28.
