NATIONAL #KISANDIWAS | TIME TO CELEBRATE TRUE HEROES OF INDIA

National Farmers Day is trending today on social media with hashtags #KisanDiwas and #NationalFarmersDay. Let’s understand why 23rd December is celebrated in the Honour of Farmers of India. This day is the birth anniversary of India’s fifth Prime Minister, Chaudhary Charan Singh, who was born into a farmer’s family. He was known for his farm beneficial policies that helped poor and socially deprived farmers across the nation. However, he had a short nine-month period from July 1979 to January 1980 being PM of India. Within this short period, Chaudhary Charan Singh worked in great favor for Indian farmers. The Government of India decided to celebrate his birth anniversary as a tribute to farmer welfare in the year 2001 and since then India is celebrating its ‘Kisan Diwas’ every year.

Chaudhary Charan Singh always stood for and fought for the rights of Indian farmers. Farmers day also helps us understand the importance of farmers in any society. Farmers in India contribute extensively to the Indian Economy and that is why they are also called ‘The Backbone’ of the Indian Economy. Farmers are putting food on our plates and feeding more than a billion crowd in India.

We shouldn't just celebrate their efforts on Farmer’s Day instead we should celebrate their contributions whenever we are about to have our meals.

This morning the social media flooded by #kisandiwas wishes, we have captured some of #kisandiwas responses as below.

“On #KisanDiwas, let's celebrate and honour the annadattas of our nation who with their dedication and hardwork are taking our country towards achieving PM Narendra Modi's vision of AatmaNirbhar Bharat! #MyGovMorningMusings,” said GOI’s Citizen Portal.

“Commemorating the birth anniversary of India’s fifth Prime Minister, Chaudhary Charan Singh on the occasion of #Kisandiwas. Celebrating our farmers, who put food on our table. #NationalFamersDay,” said HPCL’s Official twitter handle.

Punjab would always be at the forefront to fulfil all our farmers aspirations. #KisanDiwas,” said Captain Amarinder Singh, Chief Minister of Punjab.

“This Kisan Diwas, let’s salute the farmers in our country for their hard work. They are the unsung heroes and without a doubt the backbone of our nation #SBI #StateBankOfIndia #KisanDiwas,” said official twitter handle of State Bank of India.
