Insights From Prime Minister’s Visit At Netaji Bhavan| Twitter Surged With ‘Kolkata’ Trend | India Should Have Four Capitals, Not One in Delhi: CM Mamata Banerjee
The Prime Minister of India, Mr Narendra Modi on the auspicious day of Netaji’s Birth Anniversary revealed his travel plan to Kolkata via social media. This sparked a political response by many in the political fraternity, especially the opposition. The Prime Minister wrote, “On the way to Kolkata to mark #ParakarmDivas and pay tributes to Netaji Bose.”
Prime Minister Modi will be addressing ParakramDivas celebrations today, to commemorate 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. This is after a long time, i.e. 7 decades after India’s Independence that India is giving true recognition to one its many unsung freedom fighters, Netaji Bose. It is crucial for any nation to give highest form respect to its National Heroes, its Patriots, Men & Women who stood for the Integrity and sovereignty of the Nation. A nation is directionless if its citizens do not remember these Heroic Figures for their valour and sacrifices.
A Few Insights from the PM’s Visit to Netaji Bhavan
“India bows to the great Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. PM @narendramodibegan his Kolkata visit and #ParakramDivas programmes by paying homage to Netaji Bose at Netaji Bhawan,” said Dr SukantaMajumdar, A Member of Parliament from BalurghatLokSabha Constituency.
The government’s News broadcasting channel, DD News covered the PM’s visit at NetajiBhavan, as shown in the following video footage:
As per ANI report, moments after his tweet, the Chief Minister of West Bengal gave a statement to include Kolkata as one of the four rotating capitals of India, claiming that the British ruled all of India from Kolkata as capital.
Quoting CM Mamata Banerjee’s statement, ANI tweeted, “I believe that India must have 4 rotating capitals. The English ruled the entire country from Kolkata. Why should there be only one capital city in our country: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee.”
Dr. Subramanian Swamy Pointed at the Name- ‘Victoria’ Memorial
Though belonging to the same ruling party as PM Modi, Dr Subramanian Swamy is considered to be ‘No Party’s Man’ and seen as a person who always speaks his heart, out & loud. Dr Swamy has shown this in the past that he doesn’t hesitate in criticising his own political party members and so he did with PM Modi’s visit to Kolkata. While criticising the fact of keeping a memorial with the name of victoria, symbolizing the cruel British dictatorship, Dr Swamy tweeted, “Why should Modi in Kolkata go to celebrate Netaji at a building named Victoria Memorial?”
Meanwhile, during his visit at Kolkata, PM Narendra Modi also interacted with the Artists and Delegates at the National Library.
A huge gathering of people cheering Modi! Modi! welcomed the Indian Prime Minister in the city of Kolkata. A glimpse of that was captured in the video below.
“After former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri ji and P.V. Narshima Rao Ji Shri @narendramodiji is the 3rd Prime Minister who visited Netaji Bhawan on 23rd January in Kolkata today,” wrote a social media user on Twitter.
TMC being one of the opposition parties at Centre and the ruling political party of the state calls it a political event to lure the people of Bengal into BJP’s favour. TMC is also claiming that they had demanded Netaji’s Birth Anniversary to be declared as a National Holiday to which centre hasn’t given any clue yet. Although it has become habitual to seek for a holiday on any great leader’s anniversary but contradictory to this, if that great leader was alive, he or she would never seek India taking a break from work.
