Myanmar Protests Continue Protests After Extended Detention Of Aung Sann Suu Kyi
After the military seized force of the South East Asian country, the country is into utter protests with citizens claiming freedom of their leader Aung Sann Suu Kyi.
Soon after the Myanmar’s military extended the detention of the deposed leader, the citizens have gathered on the streets to save the deposed leader yet wreaking havoc on the streets of Myanmar.
According to the reports, Suu Kyi will be remanded until February 17 th. Her delayed detention has led to humongous protests in some of the major cities of Myanmar.
The military previously announced the arrest of major protests and campaigners demanding the release of the leader. The protestors claim arrest of the leader a law deficit act.
Mandalay, one of the major cities in Myanmar witnessed thousands of engineers standing on the streets chanting and holding signs of justice. The hoardings that read “Free our leader, Who stands with justice? And Stop arresting people illegally at midnight” showed the unity of the citizens. The country’s most populated city Yangon also saw protestors voicing up to free the leader from the military’s atrocities. The protestors were seen praising #SupportCDM #SaveMyanmar.
Thousands of demonstrators cited around the Central Bank building defying military trucks and water-cannon trucks.
The protests however turned violent in some areas when the police and the citizens clashed in the Mandalay leaving six people injured. The same incident also led to harsh beating of some of the journalists and protestors.
On Sunday, the military troops in Myitkyina fired tear gas and also shot a bunch of protestors.
Min Ko Naing, 58, who was mostly jailed between 1988 and 2012, was one of the leading figures in the mounting of demonstrations and a civil disobedience campaign, was on the desired list.
Reuters couldn't get him to comment immediately.
Singer "Lin Lin" Htwe Lin Ko, Myo Yan NaungThein, political analyst, Maung Maung Aye, the TV presenter and the writer Insein Aung Soe also earned warrants for "Jimmy" Kyaw Min Yu – also a veteran of the 1988 student insurgent.
"I'm so proud to have the Min Ko Naing warrant released. If you can catch me," Ei Pencilo, another, said on Facebook to her over 1.6 million followers.
Like several of those called, she has been working with the Suu Kyi League for National Democracy (NLD), which won the November elections in which the army was allegedly corrupt, an allegation that had been rejected by the Electoral Commission.
Over 350 people have been arrested after Min Aung Hlaing's attack on Friday by the UN Human Rights Bureau.
Journalist Shwe Yee Win was taken away by police and soldiers on Thursday and hasn't heard after that, according to her news site, TimeAyeyar and mother. She was posted against the coup in the Western City of Pathein.
Despite the Myanmar junta cutting the internet in the several states, the protestors still choked the streets protesting against the military.
The internet blackout has created immense fear among people as they believe the military is trying to hinder them from the right to protest continuing the unprecedented attack on the common people.
The junta said it stepped in because the government failed to properly investigate allegations of fraud in last year's election, which Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy party won in a landslide.
