Farmers to Agitate Their Protest with a Massive Tractor Parade, This Republic Day | Social Media Trends with the Event | Here’s What You Need to Know

New Delhi is set to see a large congregation of tractors led by farmers on Republic Day this Tuesday. The Farmers' Union has found common ground with the Delhi Police to conduct a cooperative tractor parade on Republic Day.

The demonstration will be held from Delhi's three boundary points- Singhu, Tikri, and Ghazipur, and it will be provided with sufficient cover, police said. Thousands of farmers from western Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh will assemble at the tractor march. Meanwhile, social media is set with trends related to the upcoming event of protest against the three farm laws amended by the central government of India.

Sharing a video showing a massive gathering of the crowd with tractors, Sukhpal Singh Khaira, An MLA from Punjab Ekta Party (PEP), wrote, “Whats the point of celebrating Republic Day when almost 150 farmers have died, lacs have been squatting on roads for 2 months and now 5 lac tractors have arrived for #SupportPeacefulTractorParade ? Is this called democracy?”

Delhi Police Granted Approval For The Parade

The Delhi Police eventually granted consent to farmers for a tractor march on 26 January. The Road map of the route has also been prepared by the Delhi Police, and the same is shared with farmer union leaders. To date, several rounds of talks have taken place on the tractor parade route. However, the police have strictly informed that no parade or march movement will be permitted in the duration of the Republic Day Parade, this is said with terms to the national security concerns.

According to the agreement, farmers can reach Delhi from the border but shall remain in the neighboring areas and do not move into central Delhi.

Describing in detail the schedule for the tractor rally, DeependraPathak, Special Commissioner for Police (Intelligence) mentioned that the rally would be held on Tuesday in the midst of heavy security after the Republic Day festivities have finished.

Pathak said, "As the farmers decided to do a tractor rally on January 26, we came to the conclusion that the rally should be held after the completion of the Republic Day Celebrations. We've provided them with about 170 Kms of distance in the three routes.”

“Barricades and other safety measures will be eliminated and farmers will enter the capital city. Later, after traveling a "respectable" distance, they should return to their destinations,” said Delhi Police.

“We have finally decided, we have agreed that we will have tractor rally also on that day (Republic Day) maintaining the sanctity and security arrangements of the Republic Day celebrations: DependraPathak, Special CP, Intelligence, Delhi Police,” reporting Delhi Police statement, tweeted ANI.
