Know Why #IamWithKhalsaAid is Trending Today on Social Media | Khalsa Aid Responded to Allegations
Recently amid the farm protests in India there have been involvements of an International NGO called Khalsa Aid whose mission is to provide humanitarian relief in emergency situations and in regions of civil war around the world. The organization is focused on the Sikh idea of "Recognise the whole human race as one.”
A few Indian media outlets were accused by Khalsa Aid supporters of falsely framing the organization. The media outlets were allegedly blamed for framing the Khalsa Aid of wrongdoings concerning farmers' protest near New Delhi. So the Khalsa Aid supporters around the globe has come up with an idea to spread the message of Khalsa Aid and their work by using one day (28 December) entirely to trend hashtag #IamWithKhalsaAid, and that is why today we are experiencing such trends on the social media platform.
Khalsa Aid International’s response to allegations
While responding to the recent allegations made against Khalsa Aid International’s work in India and especially towards farmers protests. The Khalsa Aid organisation responded by calling these allegations as unfounded, baseless and devoid of all credibility.
“Khalsa Aid International is aware of accusations being made against our organization by select media houses in India. Such statements are baseless, unfounded and devoid of any credibility. Our organization is based on “Sarbat da Bhala” Sikh values, which are the notion of the well-being of all mankind,” said Khalsa Aid International.
“We deny the accusations outright. Khalsa Aid International is in line with the laws of every country we work in. Khalsa Aid International takes its commitments extremely seriously in order to preserve its competent legal status in order to function, ensuring that those in need get humanitarian assistance - a single goal of Khalsa Aid International. Unfortunately, certain sections of the Indian media do not approach us for comment, as with other such incidents in the past, but only use their platforms to create false attacks against our organization and the charitable work it carries out,” mentioned in the letter released by Khalsa Aid International.
Khalsa Aid on India’s Farm Bill Protest
“Our on-the-ground staffs are working closely with the protest organizers. At this point, there was no request for funds if and when we are contacted. We would post any projects or demands made via our social media accounts. We advise everyone to be careful and to ensure that all funds they submit are received correctly. We continue to closely watch changes and remain agile to respond appropriately if and when necessary. Through social media, we will continue to share the work of our team in the field,” said Khalsa Aid International
“#IamWithKhalsaAid as they are a humanitarian organization that helps the most vulnerable regardless of who they are. So proud of @ravisinghka and everyone at @khalsa_aid,” Randeep S. Sarai Member of Parliament for Surrey Centre, Canada.
“Shameful to see some Indian media smear @Khalsa_Aid Throughout India and around the world Khalsa Aid helps people in natural disasters and wars, regardless of religion. In Iraq I saw how crucial their humanitarian work is to Yazidi and Christian refugees. #IamWithKhalsaAid,” Tim S. Uppal, Member of Parliament for Edmonton Mill Woods, Canada.
“Proud of your work @Khalsa_Aid I support Khalsa aid #IamWithKhalsaAid,” said a twitter user while favouring #IamwithKhalsaAid.
