#IndianRailways: Introduction of new vistadome coaches

Despite the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought upon us, another success story of "Make in India" is already achieved. According to the official statement by the railway minister Shri Piyush Goyal, the Chittranjan Locomotive works has broken all the previous records by producing 250 electric locos in a mere 188 working days. Another feather in the cap is the new vistadome coaches which would provide an unforgettable journey experience to the passengers with acceptable speed limits to 180 km/hr:

According to the details shared by the Railway Ministry, these Vistadome coaches will make train journeys memorable for the passengers, as well as give a further boost to tourism. Indian Railways’ new design Vistadome tourist coach has been manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF). The Vistadome coaches are European-style coaches, which offer a panoramic view to railway passengers while improving the comfort of travel.

The new coaches comprise of large windows with glass panels on the roof of the trains to provide an unforgettable experience to the passengers. The Indian Railways have been already operating these coaches on selected lines such as that of Nilgiri Mountain Railway line, Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, Kalka-Shimla Railway,

Kangra Valley Railway, Matheran Hill Railway, between Dadar in Mumbai and Madgoan in Araku Valley as well as in the Kashmir Valley.

The coaches have been produced by the Indian Railways’ Marathwada Rail Coach Factory, located at Latur, Maharashtra. The developer has proclaimed that the production process will benefit the entire industrial ecosystem.

The Railway Ministry has stated in the official statement that the project cost amounts to Rs 500 crore in addition to the land cost of Rs 120 crore.

The opening up of Foreign Direct Investment in the railways sector has been beneficial to the country as the entry of companies such as the French Alstom has made the country the sixth one in the world to produce high HP locos indigenously.

The twitterati  has taken to the social media platforms to express jubiliation:

The existing coaches of the Indian Railways do not match with the international standards and passengers often complain about the basic facilities, including toilets, however, with these new vistadome coaches, an improvement in the coach infrastructure is expected.

However there are certain bone of contentions, the luggage racks have to be kept outside the passenger sections which makes it vulnerable to thieves.

How far will they be successful is still a matter os speculation but we can hope that they are able to provide the unforgettable experience which they have promised.

According to checkbrand.online, the Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has unfortunately not being doing very well when it comes to trends but he still holds a considerable hold over the cabinet:

We can hope that the inclusion of these modern technologies will prove beneficial for the honorable railway minister
