Maharashtra School Hostel Witnesses Huge Covid Cases
A total of 190 cases have emerged from a single hostel in a school in Washim district as Maharashtra fights an upsurge in Covid.
A total of 186 students and four teachers tested positive. The grounds of the school were declared containment zone.
On Wednesday, Maharashtra reported over 8,800 new cases in a single day, the biggest increase in four months.
The Mumbai police has announced better Covid precautions for hindered spread.
The students are primarily from Amravati and Yavatmal, the two districts that have led in increased Covid cases.
In violation of the Covid restrictions, Washim was in the news about a large meeting near a temple on Tuesday.
Many of Shiv Sena ministers Including Sanjay Rathod whose name was linked to the resistance to a woman's death.
were gathered near the temple while visiting a shrine.
The president of Shiv Sena, Mr Thackeray, also emphasised that the rules are the same. Religious, social and political assemblies were prohibited because of rising cases.
Uddhav Thackeray said in the next few days a decision would be taken about another lockdown based on the public behaviour.
The state has witnessed 21,21,119 Covid deaths and 51,937 coronavirus cases.
