As the world celebrates new year and hoped for positive days ahead, India’s covid cases remains steady.

With a total of around 10 million cases and around 1,49,000 deaths, India faces huge storms of Covid virus.

Recently the health ministry has come up with a list of states having the highest covid cases.

Kerala, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh, the health ministry said, together contributed 157,106 to the country’s current tally of active cases.

These five Indian states nearly contribute to 62% of the country’s active cases of Covid-19, the Union ministry of health and family welfare said on Saturday.

Kerala with 65,381 cases, Maharashtra with 54,045, Uttar Pradesh with 14,260, West Bengal with 11,985 and Chhattisgarh with 11,435 infections had added most to the country’s caseload, the health ministry said.

According to Health Ministry’s data, among all the states and Union territories (UT), only six have more than 10,000 active cases. Kerala and Maharashtra have over 50,000 such cases.

Delhi on Friday reported 585 new covid cases and 21 deaths after 80,565 tests. Even after 3,374 containment zones, Delhi continues to be a major covid hotspot.
