#PrayforSriwijayaAir: Flight SJ182 Dissappears
Officials have confirmed the disappearance of a Sriwijaya Air passenger jet which was carrying 62 people and lost contact with air traffic controllers after taking off from Indonesia's capital on Saturday on a domestic flight.
Flight SJ182 disappeared from radars shortly after takeoff. The Boeing 737 plane lost more than 3,000 meters of altitude in less than a minute, as reported by the flight tracker website FlightRadar24:
According to reports, flight #SJ182 was operated by a Boeing 737-500 "classic" with registration number PK-CLC (MSN 27323). First flight for this aircraft was in May 1994.
There have been no official confirmation of the crash so far, however, local sources have confirmed to have recived the information of "something falling and exploding near the Laki island". Local Media has also broadcasted some unconfirmed images of the debris.
What we know so far:
⦁ The plane took off from Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta Airport at about 1:56 p.m. (0656 UTC) to Pontianak
⦁ The flight last made contact at 2:40 p.m
⦁ There were at least 59 on board, including five children and a baby, reported by the Indonesian newspaper "Republika"
⦁ Indonesian iNews reported that there were two pilots and four cabin crew on board
