Indians are very "touchy" when it comes to their cricket players because in India, it is regarded way more than just sports. Yes, cricket is worshipped, praised and seems to be engulfed in our genes.

India Today's sports channel Sports Tak seems to have made a terrible mistake in this regard. One of the journalists, Anil Singh, commented on Captain Virat Kohli during a talk show: "We are talking about the qualities of a captain. If we see from IPL to international cricket, we can see (his behaviour) on the field. I don't want to name names but he must realise that he is old now,".

The comment came at the time when India had conquered the "fortress Gabba" and there was much jubiliation in this regard for the Indian Cricket Team. The pack of journalists led by Vikrant Gupta were seen making some objectionable remarks about the Indian captain and insisted that he is suffering from some kind of ‘disorder’.

“(We had said that) India will not get out on 36 anymore because the match, stadium and the captain are gone,” he stated. He further went ahead to add: “It is a disorder for a captain to (be as aggressive as Virat Kohli). It might be acceptable for a player to have this aggression (but nor for a captain),”. He later added: “We are talking about the qualities of a captain. If we see from IPL to international cricket, we can see (his behaviour) on the field. I don’t want to name names but he must realise that he is old now.”

What ultimately followed was a series of backlashes on the social media platforms demanding a complete ban on the channel:

The journalist further went ahead to warn that the captain was no more "young" and that he had to mend his ways. “Yes, we know you were aggressive. We even liked it initially, as you were opposite to the personality of MS Dhoni. But, everything has limits. If you cross that limit, then, not only the opponents will take advantage of that but also the team will become weak from inside,”.

Kohli has been known for his agression on the field which has also proved useful for India at many times. However, it has also landed him in a series of "troubles".

Questioning his aggression, the journalist remarked that to bolster his relationship with the team as well as the audience, he needs to change.

How far it is correct is a matter of debate but Netizens seem to be not taking it with a pinch of salt.

Some Twitter users even threatened to unsubscribe the channel if they don’t mend their ways. Another user pointed out that the Indian captain has earned fans because of his aggressive nature and that the number of people who adore Kohli far outnumbers the total subscribers of the Sports Tak Youtube channel. The master blaster, Sachin Tendulkar, who had once spoken about Virat’s aggression is also in the spotlight:

What has now followed is a series of accusations and memes against the news channel where many have expressed their disgust over the remark.

Virat Kohli has recently become a father and holds the highest brand value among cricketers as per reports published by Checkbrand. His positive sentiments stand at a whooping 49.6 percent, highest among many of the esteemed stars. Sports Tak may be correct or maybe not, but Kohli's aggression seems to fit well with his fans.
