Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Mahakal Lok Corridor at Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain. PM Modi committed to the country the first phase of Mahakaleshwar temple corridor Development Project in Ujjain. The Mahakal Lok Corridor, measuring 900 meters long, is supposed to help Madhya Pradesh’s travel industry. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (11th October) night performed puja at Lord Mahakal Temple in Ujjain in front of committing to the country the main period of the 'Shri Mahakal Lok' passageway. Under the task, the sanctuary area will be extended almost multiple times. The complete expense of the whole undertaking is around ₹850 crore.

Modi, attired in conventional dhoti and gamcha (took), entered the sanctum sanctorum of the Lord Mahakal Temple at around 6 PM. He was joined by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Association server Jyotiraditya Scindia.

As per Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Stage I of the 'Mahakal Lok' undertaking will help in enhancing the experience of explorers visiting the sanctuary by furnishing them with top-notch present-day conveniences.

"Project aims to decongest the entire area and also put special emphasis on conservation and restoration of heritage structures. Under the project, the temple precinct will be expanded nearly seven times. The total cost of the entire project is around ₹850 crore. The existing footfall of the temple, which is currently around 1.5 crore per annum, is expected to be doubled. Development of the project has been planned under two phases," said the PMO.
