#NightCurfew: Coronavirus hampers New Year Celebrations

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority has imposed a night curfew in the national capital of Delhi to check the spread of the coronavirus disease. The Chief Secretary of Delhi, Vijay Dev has issued an official letter in this regard. It was shared by ANI on its official twitter handle:
 

 

The officials have told the news agency PTI that police and fire unit deployment has been beefed up, and traffic regulation planned. The restaurants and bars have been ordered to not host more than 50 per cent of their capacity during New Year celebrations.

Delhi Police Commissioner SN Shrivastava has stated and urged the people to follow COVID-19 protocols which includes social distancing measures and the use of masks. He stated "We will be making adequate arrangements at places where people normally like to collect. But one thing would be that all such collections would be subject to Covid-19 protocols". Special arrangements for women safety will also be ensured. Fire department along with traffic agency have been instructed.

Delhi has recently registered 677 fresh cases of the coronavirus which has pushed the overall numbers to over 624,000. According to the reports, amidst the concerns of the UK Covid-19 variant, the government has ordered setting up of isolation facilities at four private hospitals for passengers who travelled from or transitioned through the UK from November 25 till December 24 and have tested positive.
