Central Government Now Demands Threaded Conversation With The Farmers

Farmers, the Rosette stones for everything that’s served on our plates have been struggling to find their rights voicing their demands since a month now. While the world celebrates immense festivities they are beaming to their identities with nothing but shivering cold and tear gases.

Even after the eighth round of talks where the Centre still stands adamant about not revoking the farm bills, the farmers have been in the protest tattle fighting their reason for existence.

The Centre today announced that the farmers defending implementation of the new farm bills should have further talks. The Centre told the farmers that there should be clause-by-clause talks regarding the farm laws and further proceedings should be left for future.

The Centre seems to convince farmers that the talks about changes in farm laws is a better alternative than scrapping the farm bills which is the only solution that the farm unions demand.

Though the next round of talks is to be held on 19th January 2020, the farmer leader Narendra Singh Tomar is seen changing his sides on the farm issues.

Tomar further said it is absurd to bear wordings of the public when they say the Centre has not heard about the farm laws and is forcing the farm law initiative despite the farmers having participated in the discussion.  He added “the Centre has already tried to coordinate with the farmers and have asked them to work on every possible amendment but the farmers are not prepared for any other option but to revoke the farm laws disrespecting the Centre’s thoughts.”

Tomar also said that the union representatives have been trying to talk to the farmers and arrive at a common conclusion. It is not wise to exploit the farmers but they have been explicitly wrongful looking for no solution, said Tomar.

The Centre on Friday said that though the farmers have agreed lightly on guaranteeing a legal MSP price, they are much inclined towards revocation of the farm bills and therefore clause-by-clause discussion is the first thing we should proceed with.

After the Supreme Court’s decision of staying the farm laws, the farmers have been saying that since the SC stayed the law it means that the laws are not beneficial and must be revoked. Responding to this, Tomar replied that the SC’s decision also means that one of the farmers demands i.e partial revocation of the law is accepted by the Centre and therefore they should discuss the laws amendments with the Centre.

The farmers however speculate that the SC and Centre are trying to bait and play proxy with them. We have already been watching our six, the farmers said.

Tomar further announced that the next detailed meeting related to the farm laws must be held between the Central government and a small group of farmers. This will result into much better discussion and after that we can describe the initiatives with all the 40 farmer groups including the farm unions, said Tomar.

Where the government is continuously stalling the farmers' say on implementing the farm bills, the Supreme Court announced a committee to look into the matter which was rejected by the farm unions. But the farmers have been listening to the government’s say regarding amendments of the Essential Commodities Act.

Various farm unions including Bharatiya Kisan Union have opposed Tomar’s sayings claiming that they have audited NIA members sending notices to the transporters supporting the farm protests and members attending the farm protests. The other farm unions have been demanding further talks with the government attorneys to schedule meetings where they can put forward their points.

While #roarforfarmrights stands the nation slogan, the country looks forward to serving the farmers what they demand.

The farm representatives have demanded legal guarantee to MSP and repeal of laws along with actions taken against miscreants devastating farm laws.
