CHECK MOVIE REVIEW: A TELUGU THRILLER MOVIE STARRING NITHIIN, PRIYA VARRIER, AND RAKUL PREET

Movie cast: Nithiin, Priya Prakash Varrier, Rakul Preet, Simran Choudhary, Sai Chand, Sampath Raj.

Director: Chandra Sekhar Yeleti

Renowned movie director Chandra Sekhar Yeleti brings another feature film namely ‘check’. The movie starring Telugu actor Nithiin, Rakul Preet Singh, and Priya Prakash Varrier in the lead roles is released on Friday.

Yeleti is known to bring thrilling stories on the big screen, with his earlier success with projects such as Amrutham, Aithe, Anukokunda Oka Roju, these movies tend to win everyone’s hearts including the critics. Aithe became his first movie to grab a ‘National Film Award’ in 2003 and later in 2005, another movie project called Anukokunda Oka Roju won the State Nandi Award for its screenplay.

In Yeleti’s latest movie check, the lead, Aditya (portrayed by Nithiin) is sentenced to death by the court in the opening scene of the movie. The court finds him guilty for involvement in the terror activities around the country. The movie revolves around Aditya’s chase against time to prove himself innocent. He tries to take help from a young lawyer, Manasa (Rakul Preet) to defend his case, but neither the court nor the lawyer is ready to believe in his innocence.

Meanwhile, he finds liking for the game of chess, which is later projected as his only ray of hope in safeguarding his life.

Written and directed by Yeleti, the story seems to be heavily inspired by the Hollywood movie Shawshank Redemption. The movie also tries to raise questions for society as to whether a person accused as a terrorist should be or should not be getting a second chance. The movie tries to address the situation of a convict who is actually innocent, and how one has to struggle against the winds to surface the truth.

The theme 0f the movie lies in the path which the protagonist takes to bring attention after he’s wrongly sentenced to death. His instant liking to the game of chess can be related to his smartness while solving the case. However, the film never showed how Aditya gained such expertise in the game of chess in a short duration of time.

Overall, the movie can be tagged as one-time-watch with a thrilling and captivating story to experience on the big screen.
