FEMINA MISS INDIA 2020 RUNNER-UP MANYA SINGH, DAUGHTER OF AN AUTO-RICKSHAW DRIVER TURNS IMPOSSIBLE TO ‘I M POSSIBLE’

The outcomes of the 2020 VLCC Femina Miss India contest have made the dreams of Manya Singh come true. The 2020 Miss India runner-up is the daughter of Omprakash Singh, an autorickshaw driver from Uttar Pradesh. Manya secured the runner-up position of the influential Femina Miss India beauty pageant, overcoming countless hardships.

The beauty pageant held on 9th of February declared Manasa Varanasi of Telangan secured the title of Femina Miss India World 2020, while Haryana’s Manika Sheokand won the Femina Miss Grand India 2020 title.

The official Instagram account of Femina Miss India 2020 had shared a post in which Manya described the hardships she had to overcome in her life.

"I've spent numerous nights without food and sleep. I've spent many afternoons walking for miles on end. My blood, sweat, and tears have amalgamated into courage to pursue my dreams. Being a rickshaw driver's daughter, I never had the opportunity to attend school as I had to start working in my teens. All the clothes I had were hand-me-downs. I yearned for books, but luck wasn't in my favour. Eventually, my parents mortgaged whatever little jewellery my mother had to ensure that I paid my exam fees in order to earn a degree. My mother has suffered a lot to provide for me. At 14, I ran away from home. I somehow managed to complete my studies in the day, became a dishwasher in the evening and worked at a call centre at night. I've walked hours to reach places so I could save the rickshaw fare. I am here today at the VLCC Femina Miss India 2020 stage to uplift my father, my mother, and my young brother and to show the world that all is possible if you are committed to yourself and your dreams," official account of Femina Miss India quoted her as saying.

“We extend our immense gratitude to Manya Singh, VLCC Femina Miss India Uttar Pradesh 2020, for sharing her story of struggle and hard work to live out her dream. You are a true inspiration to all out there,” said Femina Miss India from its official Instagram account.

Manya went on Instagram after her victory and posted a snapshot of her parents carrying a newspaper with an image of Manya after she was crowned. She penned 'I worship them' on her Instagram account, reflecting her appreciation to her parents.

After finishing her early schooling, many took admission into Thakur College of Science and Commerce in Mumbai. She is presently planning to pursue higher studies in management as she believes education to be one’s strongest weapon in life.

Manya's motivation from the world of fashion is Priyanka Chopra Jonas, according to her bio, as she said that Priyanka is a woman of 'substance.'

She finds her mother to be the one who inspires her most in life. Manya mentioned that she learned from her mother the traits of never giving up and working tirelessly.
