From Neha Dhupia to Neha Kakkar: These Seven B-Town Celebrities announced their Premartial Pregnancy before it was mainstream
Neha Kakkar is well known for her acts which often transcends into publicity stunts. Recently her picture with Rohanpreet Singh garnered much attention from the netizens. However, it has been now criticized as a publicity stunt for her new music video. Sharing the same picture on Instagram, but this time designed like a promo poster, she wrote, “#KhyaalRakhyaKar 22nd December.” Neha will collaborate on the video with her husband, Rohanpreet Singh.
But is Neha Kakkar the first one to break the decades old tradition of "no pregnancy before marriage". Well the answer is NO. Breaking stereotypes and not caring about the superimposed moral fabric of our society, the following celebrities took a step ahead and made the proclamtion much to the aghast of the onlookers. Premarital pregnancy is still frowned upon in the Indian society but these trendsetters did not bother about the same and instead chose to focus on their children while setting goals for themselves:
1. Neena Gupta:
Neena Gupta was dating the ace cricketer Vivian Richards but Richards refused to divorce his first wife. So Neena Gupta decided to raise her daughter Masaba Gupta on her own. She went on to bag the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for playing a young widow in the movie Woh Chokri.
2. Kalki Koechlin:
Known for her unconventional body of work in the Hindi film industry and the recipient of accolades such as the National Film Award, Kalki was in a relationship with her boyfriend Guy Hershberg when she broke the news of her pregnancy. Pictures from her maternity shoot instantly went viral.
3. Neha Dhupia:
Known for her famous remark "In Bollywood, only sex and Shah Rukh Khan Sell, Neha Dhupia tied the knot with the Indian film actor and former model Angad Bedi when she was in her first trimester.
4. Konkona Sen Sharma:
Similar to Neha Dhupia, Konkona Sen Sharma tied the knot with Ranvir Shorey while she was already pregnant. The marriage ceremony was restricted to a few and did not make a big news.
5. Celina Jaitley:
The former Miss India in 2001 and the 4th runner up at Miss Universe 2001, Celina Jaitley got married to Peter Haag back in 2011 and the couple were blessed with twins into their lives in less than nine months.
6. Mahima Chaudhary:
Begining her acting debut in the 1997 film Pardes, for which she won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. Mahima Chaudhary proved her mettle with several roles in films including Daag (1999), Dhadkan (2000), Kurukshetra (2000), Dil Hai Tumhaara (2002), and received critical appreciation for her performances in Dil Kya Kare (1999) and Lajja (2001). Reports suggest that she was five months pregnant when she tied the knot with Bobby Mukherjee.
7. Sridevi:
The heartthrob of millions was an actress cum producer working in a wide array of Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada language films, Sridevi announced about her pregnancy before her second marriage to Boney Kapoor. She was supposedly 7 months pregnant when she tied the knot with the film producer.
