INDIA’S TAMIL CINEMA WITH ‘SOORARAI POTTRU’ ENTERS THE OSCAR RACE | ANNOUNCES PRODUCER
SooraraiPottru, a Tamil film starring Suriya and Aparna Balamurali, has entered the Oscar battle. A movie directed by Sudha Kongarahas joined the race in the General Category for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Original Score, and other sections.
it is a significant amount of excitement for the creators of SooraraiPottru. For the team, this is indeed a big accomplishment. The Malayalam movie Jallikattu is India's official entry for the 2021 Oscars.
SooraraiPottru is based on the true story of Captain Gopinath, who established budget airline Air Deccan. After the lockdown restrictions led by the pandemic and due to its effect leading to subsequent closure of theatres, Suriya'sSooraraiPottru became the first Tamil film to be released on the OTT platform.
The music composer G.V. Prakash mentioned his excitement of being super happy about the project, while taking it to Twitter he wrote, “Am super happy to announce that #SooraraiPottru enters the #oscars race ... including best original score category ... god bless ...”
Producer Rajsekar Pandian while taking it to Twitter wrote, “Happy Republic Day! #SooraraiPottru joins OSCARS under General Category in Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Original Score & other categories! The film has been made available in the Academy Screening Room today@Suriya_offl#SudhaKongara @gvprakash@TheAcademy.”
