NCB Raid: The South Actress Shweta Kumari Detained By Mumbai Police
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) conducted some organized raids on drug supplies at many locations in Maharashtra and Goa on Saturday. During the NCB raid at a hotel in Mumbai, the police have detained Kannada actress Shweta Kumari, reportedly seized 400 grams of Mephedrone (MD) with worth over 10 lakhs INR, and thoroughly searched the Hotel named Crown Business located in the Mira-Road. The 27-year-old actress, who is a resident of Hyderabad, was taken into custody following the investigation.
NCB Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede stated that a case has been registered against Shweta Kumari under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The department has launched organized tactical operations along with drug peddlers to arrest the sole supplier. The NCB is now working on a comprehensive financial inquiry into the interstate drug syndicate connections.
Drug peddler Chand Mohammad was also caught red-handed, according to an ANI report, while drug provider Saaed is still absconding from a raid on Saturday (January 2, 2021).
As per the reports, the raid was conducted at a hotel on Mira Road in Mumbai. After getting information from the detained persons, the NCB further conducted raids on Sunday at two locations in the Western suburbs of Mumbai.
Over the past year with the NCB in action, various Indian celebrities have come beneath the radar of drug investigations.
Recently, following the foot traces in the Rhea Chakraborty drug peddling case, NCB has sent notices to famed celebs such as Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Arjun Rampal, and many from the Karan Johar party that caught Social Media Trends. Not bearing mercy for comedians, the NCB also detained the comedy duo Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa, for the drug-related matters.
