Tamil Film Koozhangal Grabbed All Eyes In The Grand Rotterdam International Film Festival
On Sunday the coveted Tiger Award was won by the tamil film Koozhangal in the competition section of the Rotterdam International Film Festival. This is the first Tamil film to win the honor.
The film's international title is Pebbles, which tells a daddy-story, son's shattered by poverty, as they struggle to find their own way into life. It features only newcomers and has the music of Yuvan Shankar Raja.
The film, directed by debutant PS Vinothraj, was produced by actor Nayanthara and her boyfriend Vignesh Shivn. As per the IFFR tweet, the jury described the film as a lesson in pure cinema.
A thrilled Vignesh took the news to Twitter. He wrote: "The first production of @Rowdy Pictures wins one of the most prestigious international awards!" First Tamil film to win the 2021 #TigerAward winner #Koozhangal #Pebbles. Can't be any happier (sic)."
Recently, talking about supporting this film, Vignesh said in a statement, "There are days that become precious and valuable when we come across a film that makes us proud of the field we are associated with. One such moment was watching this beautiful film, Koozhangal, which marks the debut of P.S. director Vinoth Raj. The premise of the film is as simple as the title, but has created an exquisitely lovely impact within it."
"Koozhangal did not snatch our attention to new actors and technical teams' spellbinding results, but it touched our souls on Yuvan Shankar Raja's adorable background score. Such an experience instantly instilled in us the excitement not only to present film theatrically, but also to take it to international film festivals and to take over the entire production. We are proud to present this film to you in the hope that it will have an impact on you as well," he added.
