Vicky Kaushal Appears in a ‘Comic Misfire’ in ‘Govinda Naam Mera’; Receives 35.6% Positive and 5.8% Negative Reviews from the Audiences: CheckBrand
The 1990s were governed by Govinda's distinct comedy! Nobody was even close to matching his timing and punches. He has unequalled swag. Your expectations are therefore sure to rise when creators attempt to mimic that same zest and fire by putting his name in a title. Govinda the actor is unrelated to Shashank Khaitan's Govinda Naam Mera, which stars Vicky Kaushal. It merely makes an attempt to play off his name, perhaps to try to capture his feel.
CheckBrand assessed the impact and hype of the movie on the audiences, and concluded that the movie received an online engagement of 4.2K supported by 35.6% positive, 5.8% Negative and 58.6% Neutral sentiments from the audiences online. The film has a search engine score of 4133 as of 17th December 2022.
The story features Govinda (Vicky Kaushal), the protagonist, is trying to sell his family's home. But it's not a simple task. Things take a turn when Govinda becomes involved in an incident involving a dead body as he is stuck between a domineering wife (Bhumi Pednekar) and his shrill mother (Renuka Shahane). The movie begins out looking like one gag followed by another with a dozen strange supporting characters and makes no effort to sound coherent.
Vicky Kaushal's performance is a change from the sombre parts he had in Uri and Sardar Udham Singh. He gets to work on a really masala movie here. He gives it his best and kills it in every scene. Vicky gives this movie everything as Govinda Waghmare, whether it's the comical or romantic scenes. He would have had a better character graph than a linear repetitive non-stop comedy sequence only if the writing and conversation had more substance.
Because it is unsure of what it wants to be—a comedy?—Govinda Naam Mera is disappointing. a thriller a drama about love? It has no bearing on anything. As a result, the experience is chaotic, especially in the first half of the movie. The entertainment value is barely increased by songs that appear out of nowhere. Crappy dialogue that sounds like stand-up comedy scraps is present.
Govinda Naam Mera is a prime example of a terrible khichdi and a classic instance of too many chefs ruining the broth.
