Indigo Flight Engine Catches Fire While Take-Off, Emergency Declared At Delhi Airport, Video Went Viral Online Receiving 51.6% Negative Sentiments.

An IndiGo flight was delayed at Delhi International Airport Friday night after one of its engines caught fire seconds before take-off for Bengaluru. The IndiGo jet, which was delayed in Delhi due to an engine fire, was “at full speed” on the runway when flames showed “just before take-off,” according to passengers. “The aeroplane was about to take off in another 5 to 7 seconds when I saw sparks flying out... and it immediately erupted into a blaze of flames,” one of the passengers explained.

According to the Delhi Police, all passengers and staff on board IndiGo aircraft 6E-2131 are safe. The Airbus A-320 aeroplane was carrying a total of 184 passengers.

The incident occurred at 9:45 p.m. and the passengers were not evacuated quickly enough. The passengers disembarked about 11 p.m. and were transferred to another plane at midnight.

One of the passengers Tweeted a video of the incident, which showed one of the engines on fire and spouting sparks. The video indicated that the fire went out within moments. Immediately the video went viral online.

According to the preliminary findings of aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the pilot deployed the engine's fire extinguisher. The DGCA has stated that a thorough investigation into the occurrence would be conducted, and appropriate action will be taken.

According to the DGCA, the Indigo A320-Ceo aircraft VT-IFM, flying flight 6E-2131 (Delhi-Bangalore), encountered a reject take-off owing to an Engine 2 Fail alarm on October 28, 2022. A big boom was heard. The fire extinguisher container had been depleted. The plane returned to the bay. It has been grounded for further investigations.

“The plane would have taken off in 5 to 7 seconds. Suddenly, I noticed large sparks shooting from the wings, which quickly erupted into a major fire. And the plane was promptly grounded. The pilot advised us that there was a problem with the engine” one of the passengers told to the media.

An engine stall happened during the take-off roll of an IndiGo aircraft travelling from Delhi to Bangalore on flight 6E2131, according to the airline. The departure was cancelled, and the plane safely returned to the airport.

“Everyone will be accommodated on a separate plane.” “We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused the travellers,” it was further said.
