The 2022 Commonwealth Games

The International multi-sport event - The Commonwealth Games, is currently being held in Birmingham, England, started on 28th July and will continue till 8th August 2022. However, India is participating for the 18th time in the Commonwealth Games this year. The Indian contingent has 322 members for the Commonwealth Games 2022. This year's Commonwealth Games has also introduced a women’s cricket competition which has another opportunity for India to gain the lead. CWG2022 features 72 teams including the 54 Commonwealth of Nations countries and 18 territories. Currently Australia is leading the race in winning the medals. Around 200 Indian athletes have participated in the game. So far in Birmingham 2022, India has won thirteen medals including 5 Golds, 5 Silvers, and 3 Bronze medals. However, the major chunk of medals is from the weightlifting category including men and women.
