Facebook And Instagram Along With Others, “Blocked” U.S. President’s Social Accounts “Indefinitely”
Facebook and its owned Instagram banned US President Donald Trump's posts immediately on Thursday for supporting aggressive protesters who had entered the US State capitol as the Us Congress approved the US electoral results.
"We believe the risks of allowing President Donald Trump to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great," said Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s Founder & CEO.
"Therefore, we are extending the block we have placed on his Facebook and Instagram accounts indefinitely and for at least the next two weeks until the peaceful transition of power is complete," he added.
Zuckerberg said the 24-hour ban declared on Wednesday was prolonged due to Trump's "use of our forum to provoke a violent uprising against a democratically elected president."
The declaration came a day after the outgoing US leader was shut out of all mainstream social media sites due to his misleading statements about the validity of his defeat to President-elect Joe Biden, and his incitement to the furious mob that invaded the US Capitol.
His beloved bullhorn, Twitter, had banned him for 12 hours, but it isn't clear as if the ban was lifted on Thursday.
Snapchat reported Thursday that Trump has been shut out of the picture-sharing site in the wake of his divisive mob provoking language.
The ban comes after Trump's followers invaded the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday in an unexpected attempt of invading the capitol that resulted in one citizen getting shot and killed by a police officer, disrupting the formal protocol to recognize Biden's election win by the US congressmen.
