From Left to Right: Mithun Chakraborty to share stage with BJP

Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty is all set to share the stage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his rally scheduled on March 7 at Kolkata’s Brigade Parade ground, giving rise to speculations of him joining the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of Bengal assembly elections.

The popular film star told the media agencies regarding his connection with Mohan Bhagavat:

“I have a spiritual relation with him. It is a very deep spiritual relation. There was a plan that he would come to my home when he visits Mumbai. It so happened that I returned to Mumbai from Lucknow after a shoot and he too is in Mumbai. So ‘jud gaye hum' ".

Chakraborty was once known for his radical Left leanings but later he became close to several top Left leaders including late Subhash Chakraborty.

Though Mithun Chakraborty has denied any plans to join the BJP or politics, there are strong speculations that he may join the the saffron brigade in presence of PM Modi in Kolkata.

In the year 2014, he was nominated as the Rajya Sabha member by Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee but only after two years he resigned on grounds of health issues. He was also the brand ambassador of the defunct Saradha group of companies owned by Sudipta Sen.

Mithun was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate in Mumbai in the year 2014 after it was found that an amount of about nearly 1.2 crore was transferred to his account from Saradha Group. In 2015, Chakraborty returned the money (Rs 1.2 Crore) he received from the defunct Saradha group of companies to the Enforcement Directorate  in Kolkata.

Social Media Platforms like twitter are already abuzz with the news and proclamation:

BJP National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, however said:

"There will be only public and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is the biggest celebrity. We'll welcome those coming in. If Mithun Chakraborty comes, we will welcome him,".

State BJP Vice-President Jay Prakash Majumdar stated:

"There are many Bengalis in the state and outside who are important people, concerned about Bengal's downward slide under Mamata Banerjee,".

What Mithun Chakraborty will be saying from the stage tomorrow would be crucial to watch. To keep yourselves updated with the latest trends like these, visit and subscribe to Checkbrand.
