Motilal Vora (1927-2020) : The Veteran Congress Leader Dies at 93 | Post Covid-19 Recovery
Veteran Indian politician and congress leader Motilal Vora passed away today in Delhi. The politician had recently recovered from covid-19 and had also turned 93-years-old yesterday on his Birthday.
In his entire political career, Motilal Vora had held prestigious and powerful political positions as Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Former Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Former Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), and also held the position of treasurer for AICC (All India Congress Committee) for 16 years.
Motilal Vora will be cremated in Chhattisgarh where his body will be taken either later today or on Tuesday. Vora started his career as a journalist and began his political leadership as an MLA. He held various cabinet minister roles before becoming the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh in the year 1985. Later in 1993, he was appointed as the governor of Uttar Pradesh, and recently he was elected as an MP from a constituency in the state of Chhattisgarh.

“Pained to learn about the passing away of Shri Motilal Vora ji. My deepest condolences to his family and followers in this hour of grief. Om Shanti Shanti Shanti,” said Amit Shah, Union Home Minister.
“Vora ji was a true congressman and a wonderful human being. We will miss him very much. My love & condolences to his family and friends,” said Rahul Gandhi, Member of Parliament (INC).
“Every leader of Congress party, every worker is feeling personally saddened by the death of Shri Motilal Vora ji. Vora ji was a symbol of loyalty, dedication and patience to the ideology of Congress,” said Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, General Secretary (INC).
“Deeply saddened by the demise of Shri #MotiLalVora ji, a guiding light to many of us, within Congress & beyond.His dedication towards our nation & party will inspire many generations to come. Heartfelt condolences to his family, friends & followers. May his soul rest in peace,” said K C Venugopal, Member of Parliament (INC).
“Tragic to learn about demise of one of the finest Congressman known.
RIP #MotilalVora ji Heartfelt condolences to @ArunVoraMLA & family,” said another Congress leader, Niraj Bhatia.
“Veteran Congress leader #MotiLalVora passes away in Delhi at the age of 93,” tweeted official Twitter handle of Doordarshan India.
“Deeply saddened by the passing away of Shri @MotilalVora Ji. He was a lifelong Congressman, who served the party till the very last. His unflinching commitment to the party & willingness to work for its ideals without any concern for his age will inspire many. May his soul RIP,” said Former Union Minister and INC general secretary Mukul Wasknik.
