PRIME MINISTER’S YOUNGER BROTHER, PRAHLAD MODI STAGED A ‘DHARNA’ AT LUCKNOW OVER DISAPPOINTED WITH UP POLICE | FIND THE COMPLETE STORY

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's younger brother Prahlad Modi managed to have a dharna at Lucknow Airport on Wednesday, insinuating that the police had not allowed his proponents to enter Lucknow.

As per Lucknow Airport's Additional General Manager ( AGM Operations) Bhupendra Singh, Prahlad Modi landed in Lucknow on an Indigo flight in the evening of Wednesday around 4 pm.

He sat in the airport premises staging dharna as he was disappointed with the police restricting his followers trying to reach the airport, Singh said, adding that Prahlad Modi had left after an hour or two.

Maya A. Anand, national vice-president of the Yoga Social Society, said that Prahlad Modi is on a four-day tour to participate in the social event. He was supposed to arrive in Lucknow and join the program organized in several districts including Sultanpur, Jaunpur, Pratapgarh, Prayagraj. The police took custody of the society's guardian Chinhat, a resident Hariram on Tuesday night.

On Wednesday, Prahlad Modi came to know about this when he landed at Lucknow Airport. Meanwhile, more than 10 activists who visited him were taken into custody by the police. Modi found it disappointing and sat on a hunger strike demanding the release of his supporters.

As per the media reports, he criticized the operation of the Lucknow police and also vowed to go on an extended hunger strike if his supporters were not freed.

"Is there a provision of law in Uttar Pradesh that stops people from welcoming someone who has arrived to their city? I would like a copy of that notification. Some policemen told me that there were orders from Prime Minister's Office too. I want to see that order as well," said Prahlad Modi to an IANS reporter.

"Unless I am provided with the copies of the orders, I will not leave from here. I’ve already made my decision to go on a hunger strike until I am provided with such order notification," he said.

So far efforts by the news and media agencies have been made to reach authorities and other senior officials of UP Police for their comments on this matter, but to no avail.
