Sasikala released after four years, suffers from COVID infection
Imprisoned in the year 2017 for a disproportionate assets case, former AIADMK general secretary and a close aide of ex-Tamil Nadu chief minister late J Jayalalithaa, VK Sasikala was released from from Central Jail, Parappana Agrahara, just a day after the Republic Day celebrations. The doctors have been treating her for COVID-19 infection at Victoria Hospital and have advised against discharging her for upcoming few days.
Sasikala was imprisoned for a period of four years. The doctors have strictly advised her to follow medical protocols in the days that follow:
Medical superintendent Dr Ramesh Krishna K said her oxygen saturation level was 98% with two litres of oxygen, blood pressure 126/70 mmHg and blood sugar level 196 mg/dl. She was consuming food orally and was walking with support.

On behalf of AMMK Thanjavur North District, special poojas were also held at Pattiswaram Arulmigu Durgai Amman Temple under the leadership of AMMK Deputy General Secretary Mr.Rengasamy for Mrs. Sasikala's speedy recovery and good health.
VK Sasikala was found guilty of corruption by the Supreme Court and had been sentenced to four years in prison in 2017. This ended her high velocity and divisive bid to be Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. She has been barred from contesting an election for the next ten years. The two judges of the Supreme Court delivered their ruling separately, but agreed that Ms Sasikala had, in the early 90s, accumulated an illicit fortune with Ms Jayalalithaa, the five term Chief Minister who she lived and shaped her political career.
The ex-AIADMK leader will be spending five more days at the Victoria hospital at Bengaluru where she will be treated for the covid infection.
