Stanley Johnson, The Father Of The Pro-Brexit UK PM Seeks French Passport | Considers Himself French & European

The father of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Stanely Johnson, recently mentioned that he is filing for a French Passport and look forward to be the part of European Union by owning a French Citizenship as the United Kingdom breaks all its ties with the EU single market post Brexit deal coming into existence.

Stanely Johnson, who belongs to same Conservative Party as his son, has earlier voted for UK to remain in the European Union during the 2016 Brexit referendum.

On the other side, The British Prime Minister has been the key leader in promoting the Brexit movement which later strengthened his political presence in the UK and finally fetching him the seat of Prime Minister.

During an interview with France’s RTL radio, the father of UK Prime Minister called himself more of a French than British, claiming his ancestral existence in France. “It’s not about becoming French. If I understand correctly I am French! My mother was born in France; her mother was completely French as was her grandfather,” said Stanely Johnson.

According to the France24 reports, Stanely was among the first few civil servants who were appointed from the UK to work for the European Union, soon after UK joined the European Bloc in 1973. Between the years 1979 and 1984, Stanely also served as a Member of the European Parliament representing the UK’s conservative party and ultimately worked for the European Commission.

“I will always be European, that’s for sure. For me it’s a question of obtaining what I already have and I am very happy about that,” Said Stanely Johnson during his Interview to RTL radio.

It seems obvious that you can’t tell an Englishman that he’s not European. Europe Union is more than a single market. To have link with it, EU is important,” he added.

The Johnson family was divided by the Brexit challenges. The sister of Prime Minister Rachel Johnson, a columnist, abandoned the Conservative Party to join the Liberal Democrats in opposition against Brexit ahead of the 2017 UK election.

Jo Johnson, the Member of UK’s Parliament from conservative party, resigned in 2018 from the party’s cabinent to emphasize his support for stronger EU relations.

The UK's Brexit movement led three prominent members of Johnson family and the Conservative Party, going completely against it and in favor of stronger European Union ties.

While the United Kingdom has signed into a post-Brexit agreement with the EU, beginning in 2021, most British people will forfeit their European freedom to work and fly in a bloc of 27 countries, without authorized permissions and Visas. More than 350 Thousand British people have already registered to become dual citizens of another EU Nation as of January 2020 in order to gain EU citizenship, according to a report by The Guardian.
