Google today has a doodle that created curiosity on social media.

Not to miss, Google changes its doodle to celebrate important days, personalities, or something that the world knows less about, its not just a social media trick.

Today, the doodle is made in the honour of economist, author and professor Sir. W Arthur Lewis. The credit goes to a Manchester based artist named Camilla Ru.

Sir W Arthur Lewis on 10^th December 1979 was jointly awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics for his work to model the economic forces that impact developing countries.

About Sir W Arthur Lewis

Sir W Arthur Lewis was born on 23 January, 1915, in the Caribbean island of St. Lucia. Lewis’s father and mother were both immigrants from Antigua and then shifted to Lucia. He completed his school when he was fourteen and then joined as a clerk in civil service. Being excellent in his educational vicinity, he moved to London School of Economics in 1932 after winning a government scholarship.

Lewis’s journey of success was not all glittery and shiny as he had to face racial discrimination at every stage of his life. Despite all the struggles, he managed to become a full professor at the age of 33, completing the highest distinctions of a tenured professors.

In 1963, the British government honoured him for his life long achievements and serving the nation.

His achievements are uncountable. He was the first Black faculty member at the London School of Economics and first Black instructor to achieve full professorship at Princeton University. He was also the first Black to mark his position and hold a chair in the British University. Helping the United Nations and sharing his expertise as an advisor to African, Asian and Caribbean government, Lewis also became the first President of the Caribbean Development Bank.
