James Cameron Spreads His Magic Again with the Sequel of Avatar; Receives 1.1M Engagement on Online Platforms

The wait is finally over. It’s been 13 years since we last visited the world of Na’vi and Pandora, and now it’s that time of the decade again. The trailer launch of James Cameron’s Avatar 2 has created a massive hype amongst the audiences and fans are going all crazy about it. So, does Way of Water recapture the magic of 2009’s epic science fiction Avatar? Let’s find out.

When CheckBrand followed this hype, we found out that James Cameron received a massive online engagement of 1.1M with 28.9% positive sentiments from the audiences. Apart from this Avatar 2 also has also received an online engagement of 323.1K supported by 35.2% positive sentiments from the audiences online as of its release date, i.e. 16th December, 2022.

Avatar 2 is without any doubt one of the best films to release this year as a whole. However, we must qualify this praise by pointing out that not every component that makes up the movie is strong. Imagine Avatar 2 as a stylish Christmas sweater; from a distance, it appears to be the cosiest thing you've ever seen, and when you hold it, the wool is so soft that it will likely cause you to cry. However, if you started to separate the threads that make up the jumper, you would soon discover that there was a lot more combustible polyester than there was cashmere.

In all honesty, the plot of Avatar 2 is no more compelling than dollar-store garbage bags. In essence, it is a tale of good vs evil that promotes some rather uncontroversial environmental problems.

It's alright. It's not necessary for stories to be extremely complex, but it becomes problematic when a weak script is coupled with bland characters. And while watching, there were numerous times when I couldn't understand a character's reason or why they were acting a specific way because of poor character development.

The Na'vi in Cameron's film are not characters; they are archetypes, which is why we found myself growing quite connected to their essentially one-dimensional personalities. Characters don't require personalities for the story Cameron is presenting because he is too busy exploring the deep water.

Concludingly, Avatar 2 is chock-a-block with intense chases, violent knife fights, and a general level of intense action that’d make even Arnold Schwarzenegger blush. Though it clearly relies on computer-generated images, there's a wonderful combination of practical effects tossed in as well, and the two interact flawlessly. This makes it even more remarkable.
