Argentinian Soccer legend Diego Maradona dies at 60.

A well-known fact about Legends is that they are born with a spark in their eyes that later lightens the whole world. They also mark a moment of darkness when they depart from this world. This week we lost one of the most iconic Argentinean soccer player Diego Maradona who lost his life due to severe heart failure. Maradona recently went through surgery with the successful removal of a blood clot in his brain. Fans were delighted with his recovery and what happened later left them disheartened.

A 15-year-old Maradona started his professional debut with the club Argentinos Juniors in the year 1976. A few months after that, he made his international debut with Argentina's national team. Maradona made 91 appearances for the Argentinean national, among which 21 were in World Cup tournaments, scoring a total of 34 goals. Maradona under his captaincy grabbed the 1986 FIFA world cup for Argentina, beating West Germany 3-2 in the finals. Maradona aka ‘The Golden Boy’ was known for his luxurious lifestyle. In the year 1981, he joined Barcelona club from Boca Juniors for 5 Million Euros, which itself was a world record transfer fee at the time. After two years, he joined the Napoli club for a humongous fee of 6.9 million Euros, breaking the transfer fee record once again. Just like any other celebrity, Maradona’s personal life also went through various humps and tides, married Claudia Villafane in 1989, and later divorced in the year 2004. A lot was going through Maradona’s life but the world will always remember him for his greatest contribution to the game of football.
