Delhi to Carry Forward MCD Elections Today; Receives 16.6% Positive Sentiments from the Audiences: CheckBrand
Delhi MCD mayor election will be held today i.e. on 6 January, a month after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) bagged 134 wards in the polls and ended the BJP's 15-year rule in the civic body. Today's meeting of the civic body's first municipal house will see the swearing-in of the newly elected council members. But everyone's attention will be focused on the elections for mayor and deputy mayor. Ashu Thakur and Shelly Oberoi are candidates for the AAP. The BJP's candidate for mayor is Rekha Gupta, a three-term councilwoman from Shalimar Bagh. Aaley Mohammad Iqbal and Jalaj Kumar, who are competing against Ram Nagar councillor Kamal Bagri for the position of deputy mayor, have been nominated by the AAP.
