Know Why #farmerswithmodi Trending on Social Media | New Farm Bill of India

Amidst these farm bill protests that have a general perspective of opposing the central government, we are seeing another surge of people coming in favor of the new farm-bill. These farmers along with other people in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi have been setting a top-running trend on social media with hashtag #famerswithmodi with top politicians too marking their active participation.

Let’s try finding out as to why #FarmerswithModi is trending on microblogging website of Twitter.

In the past few weeks, we have been spectators to huge protest that claims to a #farmersprotest. Thousands of farmers have gathered around the national capital’s borders, specifically on the singhu border at Delhi-Haryana Junction.

The group of people creating the trend of #farmerswithmodi are actively trying to raise awareness among the commoners and farmers of India towards the benefits of the new farm bill. They argue with the protestors by marking the facts of the new farm bill, mentioning it to be India’s first farmer-friendly bill in the history of Independent India. They also validate their stand by calling the new bill the ‘provider of freedom’ from the APMCs long-running monopoly.

The Union government has recently started an initiative to spread the awareness regarding New Farm Bill’s true benefits for the Indian farmers. The GOI is calling this bill 'a revolutionary bill' for the betterment of the farmers and it also accuses the opposition of creating a false agenda against the bill and specifically regarding MSP (minimum support price). In terms of MSP, the Union Government has kept its clear statement as ‘MSP will never be altered or revoked during the implementation of the new farm bill’.

The Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri, in a recent interview said “The opposition political parties are play a contradictory stance with regards to the new farm bill as these parties and their leaders had earlier recommended the same reform for the agricultural sector.

“To those who feed the nation, this is a clarion call by Narendra Singh Tomar Ji. To those who are misleading farmers, this is an ultimate reply by PMO India. To those who still doubt PM Narendra Modi Ji’s intention of doubling farmers income, it’s the ultimate proof of reality #FarmersWithModi,” said Dr. Syed Zafar Islam, Member of Parliament (RS).

“This is my appeal to peasant brothers and sister. Following the mantra of "Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas Sabka Vishwas", under the leadership of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, our government has tried to serve the interests of all without discrimination. The history of the last 6 years is a witness to this,” Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar said in a tweet.

“I assure the farmer brothers that if anyone in the country thinks about your interests and can fulfil the goal of doubling your income, then it is one and only Narendra Modi Ji. People who have looted your rights for almost 60 years are just misleading you,” said Amit Shah, The Union Home Minister of India.

The conclusion of the new trend seems to be an explanation as to why the new Farm Bill could break the chains and barriers for the majority of farmers and giving them the freedom to sell at their price and in their own choice of market, thus breaking the monopoly of APMCs.
