Mamta Benerjee on Four Day Trip to Delhi to Meet President Murmu

Amid Central Government’s use of Enforcement Directorate (ED) against opposition leaders, Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee held a meeting with her party MPs on Thursday in Delhi. Ms. Banerjee is in Delhi on a four-days visit for her scheduled meetings. MPs meet was a day before her arranged talks with PM Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu.

In addition to her meetings with Modi and Murmu, she will also be present at a celebration of the nation's 75th anniversary at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday and at Niti Ayog meeting on Sunday.

Banerjee reviewed her party's efforts during the monsoon session on Thursday and supported the combined opposition's legislative initiatives, particularly those that opposed the BJP's use of government agencies to raid and detain opposition politicians.

She and the party's national general secretary, Abhishek Banerjee were informed by Trinamool MPs that Partha Chatterjee had been suspended from the party and the cabinet following his "surprise" detention.
