India’s Fast Bowler Ashok Dinda Took A Formal Retirement From All Forms Of Cricket, Thanked Sourav Ganguly And The BCCI For The All Time Support

Ashok Dinda, the pace bowler, has declared his retirement from all forms of cricket. While addressing the media in Kolkata on Tuesday, he made the announcement. Dinda, 36, has picked up over 400 first-class wickets as one of India's largest seasoned domestic pace bowlers. Between 2010 and 2013, he played 13 ODIs and nine T20 International matches for India.

For 10 years, Dinda made a name for himself playing for Bengal, a team he represented until his relations were compromised by fallout with Coach Ranadeb Bose. The fast bowler moved to Goa this season. He retired after playing 416 FC games in which he took 416 wickets.

"Playing for India is everyone's aim; I played for Bengal that's why I got the opportunity to represent India. I thank the BCCI for giving me an opportunity to play for India. Quality players like Deep Das Gupta, Rohan Gavaskar guided me when I played for Bengal. I earned the respect every time I picked a wicket," Dinda said.

During a T20 International against Sri Lanka in Nagpur, where he took 1/34 from three overs, Dinda made his India debut under MS Dhoni's captaincy in 2009. Five months later, he made his ODI in Bulawayo against Zimbabwe, where he went wicket-less for 49 runs in 7.2 overs.

Dinda represented many domestic teams in Indian Premier League (IPL), he played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Bangalore Royal Challengers, and also for the now-defunct Pune Warriors and Pune Supergiant Rising. He played 78 IPL matches in 10 editions and picked up 68 wickets against the five-time finalists Mumbai Indians with a best of 4/18.

Dinda expressed his appreciation to the BCCI and to his former captain, Sourav Ganguly, and the Bengal Cricket Association (CAB).

"I would also like to say heartfelt thanks to Sourav Ganguly, I remember in 2005-06, Sourav Ganguly selected me for the 16-member team, I debuted against Maharashtra. I am forever in the gratitude to Dada, he always helped me. I have finally called time on my profession here in Bengal," said Ashok Dinda.
