Union Government Will Soon Nod To Bengaluru Airport and Metro Connectivity

Bengaluru will soon have the connectivity for airline and metro.

Hardeep Singh Puri, the India’s Urban Affairs and Aviation minister had said that the 56-km outer ring road metro line to Kempegowda International Airport will be the connectivity passage.

The airport line includes two phases — Central Silk Board to KR Puram (Phase 2A) and KR Puram to Kempegowda International Airport (Phase 2B). The line is an extended version of pree-existing Green Line route.

The project is been finalized by the Urban Affairs Ministry and will soon begin, for now the project has been sent to the Public Investment Board for approval by the Ministry of Urban Affairs.

The Union Minister declared the continuation of the project while attending an inaugural event of Yelachenahalli- Silk Institute metro line from Delhi.

Ajay Seth, the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited Managing Director have further announced passing of memorandum to the Union Government.

He said “We are expecting to receive clearance in two-three months.”

Yelachenahalli-Silk Institute line of the metro is the first corridor under Phase 2 of Namma Metro. Phase 2 was sanctioned in 2014 and was supposed to be completed by 2018, but got delayed.

The creation occurs on 4 January 2021, after train services to the city's international airport began in South Western Railways. A total of five trains operate from the city to the stop of the airport. Another train line will also be ready by the end of 2023 for the airport in conjunction with the recently approved suburban rail network. Trains on this line are required to work more rapidly and often.
