Digital Sentiments of CM Kejriwal’s Audience Dropped after being called "Power Drunk" by Anna Hazare

Social activist Anna Hazare expressed his disappointment on Tuesday over allegations of corruption in the 2021-2022 excise tax policy being investigated by the CBI, citing Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi and leader of the Aam Admi Party (AAP).

Amid the critical statement made by Anna Hazare, the digital ranking of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal affected drastically. In fact, As per CheckBrand, the audiences’ sentiment towards Mr. Kejriwal has been negatively dropping towards 41.2%, that might have impact on both of his Brand Value and Brand Score.

In a scathing letter written to his assistant, Hazare said he (Arvind Kejriwal) seemed to have forgotten his own idealistic principles, saying, "Drunk on Power”.

Hazare is an abolitionist and his relationship with Kejriwal, who served as an aide during the historic anti-corruption campaign in 2011, was rejected by activists in his 80s when Delhi CM Kejriwal decided to launch a political party.

“The excise tax policy of the Delhi government shows that a political party founded at the expense of a historic movement is following the same path as other parties. It is very sad,” Hazare wrote in the letter.

Hazare said that he was influential in spreading liquor Prohibition in his village, and that he fought for favourable excise tax policies in Maharashtra, which he claimed, contributed to the growth of the nation.

The legislation prohibits the selling of alcohol in a community if 51% of the village's women vote against it. “The Delhi administration was anticipated to implement similar initiatives.”

“It should not be appropriate for a political party formed as a result of a massive movement," Hazare said in his letter. According to social activists, Kejriwal, who made a speech in favour of Lokpal and Lokayukta to combat corruption in the country, seems to have forgotten about Lokpal and Lokayukta after becoming Chief Minister.

In response, Kejriwal slammed BJP without naming it by saying, “Whenever the opposition believes they have run out of arguments in their struggle against us, they bring in someone to attack us.” He further added“If the CBI gives us a clean slate, the public will stick with us."

Kejriwal further said, "They will shoot a pistol from Anna Ji's shoulder...they do it to smear us." Responding to the statement Anna Hazare replied, "You have not even sought to introduce the powerful Lokayukta Act into the Delhi legislature, and your administration has implemented an excise policy that ruins people's livelihoods and abuses women. It demonstrates your double standards.”
