US PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP PRESENTED ‘LEGION OF MERIT’ AWARD TO THE INDIAN PM NARENDRA MODI
The President of USA, Donald Trump this yesterday, presented the prestigious military honour of excellence award ‘Legion of Merit’ to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his leadership abilities in uplifting the Indo-US Strategic relationship.
The Indian Ambassador to America, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, has accepted the award on the behalf of Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the US National Security Advisor Robert C. O’Brien at the White House.
“President Donald Trump presented the Legion of Merit to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his leadership in elevating the U.S.-India strategic partnership. Ambassador Sandhu Taranjit accepted the medal on behalf of Prime Minister Modi,” said NSA Robert C. O’Brien, from official twitter handle of NSC (National Security Council) of USA.
The US President Trump presented Legion of Merit to two more Prime Ministers. Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Japan’s former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe were also awarded The Legion of Merit, these awards were given to their respective ambassadors in USA.
“It is a matter of great pride and honour for India that our Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji has been awarded the 'Legion of Merit' by the President of USA. His charismatic leadership and contributions have elevated the India-US strategic partnership to greater heights,” said Ravi Shankar Prasad, Union Law Minister of India.
The Legion of Merit award is given with highest degree from the Chief Commander of the Legion to the Head of a Government.
Narendra Modi was given this award in recognition of his leadership qualities and vision for developing better Indian-American ties.

- Order of Abdulaziz Al Saud by Saudi Arabia
- State Order of Ghazi Amanullah Khan
- Grand Collar of the State of Palestine Award
- Order of Zayed Award by UAE
- Order of the Distinguished Rule of Nishan Izzuddin by Maldives
- Order of Saint Andrew by Russia
