CM Khattar’s Anatomy of Farm Protests Is Contradictory To What Amarinder Singh Concurs

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar accused the opposition parties of inciting farmer protests and wreaking havoc in his state.

Haryana CM also told that the Centre will not withdraw the farm bills, there might be amendments but no withdrawal.

He said “The Government is not going to repeal these laws. It is certain. Even if state governments are to be exempted, there will only be amendments. A resolution can be reached after discussion on certain points. But I don’t think the Government is going to withdraw these laws. I am hopeful that discussions are going in the right direction, that is why the next date of meeting has been fixed.”

Khattar was about to hold discussions regarding the farm bills in Karnal’s Kaimla village which was invaded and destroyed by the protesting farmers.

Khattar had to cancel the ‘kisan panchayat’ after the farmers blemished the area, broke the furniture and vandalised the entire place.

The farmers already announced to restrict Khattar’s visiting when they came to know about the ‘kisan panchayat’ as they believed he will not be covering the subject but come up with mere validations.

On Sunday, thousands of farmers gathered at Bastara plaza and marched towards the village in buses and tractors. To control the situation, police intervened and tried to stop them with tear gas and other amenities. But breaking the tear gas shield, the farmers managed to enter Kaimla and destroy the place.

When he learnt about the mishappenings in Karnal, he clarified his visit to the place. He further stated that he had to announce a 100-crore development project for the village.

Khattar learnt about the happenings and blamed the opposition parties and the communist parties for the incitement. He said “These people have defamed farmers, this cannot be the behaviour of farmers. Gurnam Singh Chadhuni’s video released two days ago, wherein he incited people, is responsible for today’s incident. I believe that the Congress party and the Communists have a major role to play in such incidents. Through these agitations, if they think they can spread their wings, they are highly mistaken. People are dying there (on Delhi’s outskirts) in this weather… I would suggest that this protest should end immediately so that these farmers can go back home.”

Khattar previously faced the farmers' wrath when the furious farmers stopped one of his programs on December 9th.

While Khattar blames the opposition for not being the torch bearers of anti-protests, Singh supports the farmers believing they are abiding by their rights.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh lashed out at Khattar saying “He doesn't know what to say, so, he is saying all this. Punjab is not stopping its farmers because it is their right to protest. Why are you stopping them?”

He further asked Khattar “Why are you using water cannons and tear-gassing them? When we are not stopping them and Delhi is not stopping them, who are you to stop them? I don’t like this dishonest behaviour. He can call me 10 times now, I won’t pick up his call.”

The controversial farm bills have already marked a place in Haryana where the BJP government gained higher seats in the previous elections. With Central government leaving no hints for bill withdrawal, the farmers continue to fight for what’s unobjectionably theirs.
