Delhi Mayor Polls to be held today after a Long Fight between AAP & BJP; Receives 2.2K Digital Engagement: CheckBrand

Tuesday's meeting of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will be held in order to elect the new mayor after the conflict between the Aam Aadmi Party and the Bharatiya Janta Party prevented it from doing so at the previous meeting.

On Tuesday, the elected council members will be sworn in, and hopefully by the end of the day, Delhi will have its first sole mayor in ten years.

London LG Vinay Kumar Saxena gave his approval for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to meet on January 24 to elect the mayor and deputy mayor as well as six members to the Standing Committee and administer the oath of affirmation to newly elected council members.

AAP and BJP both staged large-scale protests during the previous sitting on January 6 and in the days that followed, blaming one another for the commotion that had taken place in the MCD house.

After the House is seated, the 10 aldermen and the members nominated by the LG will take the oath first. AAP had previously objected to the presiding officer's choice to call nominees for oath-taking before elected council members.
