Indian Minister Arrested For Kidnapping | Former Andhara Pradesh Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya Taken Into Police Custody

Former Andhra Pradesh Tourism Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya was apprehended by Hyderabad Police on Wednesday in connection with the drastic kidnapping of three businessmen, Praveen Rao, Sunil Rao and Naveen Rao—all of them brothers. The three siblings were taken away from their home on Tuesday night by a group of abductors who had been posing as income tax officers after incarcerating other family members in some other location. As per the police, the chief of the TDP is believed to have plotted and conducted the kidnapping.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar, making public statements, said the police started searching for kidnappers shortly after collecting intelligence about the incident. Special teams were established and check-posts were established on all main roads. "Upon discovering that they could not flee, the kidnappers abandoned the three brothers near Narsingi (in the suburbs of the city) by 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday. They were tracked and saved when they turned on their mobile phones," Said the Police Commissioner while making statement.

Tuesday evening, about 7:20 p.m., as per the family members, ten to fifteen people barged inside their residence. Garbed in civilian attire and one of them in a police uniform, they provided a search warrant, saying they were from the Income Tax Department. They raided the house and kept all the family members in one room, whereas the three siblings were forced to stay in the sitting room. An hour or so later, after one of the family members came home to find the front door closed from the outside, the rest of them discovered that the trio had been abducted.

The Police Commissioner mentioned that “the three brothers Praveen Rao, Sunil Rao, and Naveen Rao were kidnapped on a property dispute in Hafeezpet. Previously in 2020 a case was lodged in Miyapur Police station after Praveen Rao complained against AV Subba Reddy.”

“The former Minister Bhumi Akhila Priya and her husband Bhargava Ram are suspect number 2 and 3, respectively in the criminal case,” added the Commissioner.

“Around 11:20, the former minister was arrested from her Kukatpally residence and was brought to the Bowenpally Police Station,” he further added to his statement.

As per the police, Akhila Priya began menacing Praveen with serious ramifications when he directed her to Subba Reddy. This was to reach at a land settlement that Akhila Priya and her spouse had abducted Praveen, Naveen, and Sunil with the assistance of their sidekicks, the cops said. Several offenders have been arrested by the police and all of the kidnapping suspects were tracked down. The rest of the investigation is ongoing.
